Taste of Hudson Donates $23,500 to Hudson Area Organizations

Donations total $290,625 over The Taste’s ten year history

October 28, 2014 – Hudson, Ohio – Taste of Hudson is proud to donate $23,500 in net festival proceeds to Hudson and Summit County area organizations after this year’s 10th Anniversary event. Grants from this year’s festival have been issued to fourteen different organizations. Donation checks were distributed to the recipient organizations at a presentation on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Hudson Library & Historical Society.

Established in 2005, Taste of Hudson is now northeast Ohio’s premier culinary, entertainment and lifestyle festival, bringing more than 35,000 visitors over the two-day event. The success of the festival has enabled Taste of Hudson to donate more than $290,625 to deserving organizations over the past ten years.

“The commitment of our festival sponsors, restaurants, partners, entertainers and exhibitors is incredible and has enabled us to evolve and present new attractions each year. Without their support of Taste of Hudson, a not-for-profit organization, we would not be in the position to donate funds each and every year. This year we experienced some adverse weather however we are still able to share our success by financially assisting numerous local organizations,” said Andy Malitz, executive director.

This year’s beneficiaries include:

  • Leadership Hudson
  • Hudson Library and Historical Society
  • Screen on the Green
  • Hudson Memorial Stadium
  • Hudson Community Services Hudson Food Pantry
  • Hudson Community Services Holiday Lights
  • Friends of the Hudson Parks Ambassador Program
  • Hudson Middle School
  • Leadership Hudson Class of 2014.

Additionally, The Little Tikes Company donated over $4,000 in Little Tikes product to Habitat for Humanity of Summit County. Items went to numerous families chosen by Habitat for Humanity.

Annually, The Little Tikes Company provides the children’s toys and play structures enjoyed by thousands of families in Little Tikes Land during Taste of Hudson.

The mission of the organizing committee of Taste of Hudson is to promote economic development in downtown Hudson and to showcase the community to the thousands of guests who visit the event.

Malitz added, “We also express gratitude to all Taste of Hudson partners and sponsors, restaurants, exhibitors, artists, entertainers, our very dedicated Board of Directors and organizing committee, and more than 300 volunteers. The generosity of all of our participating organizations is paramount to our success and provides us the ability to produce a festival which can give back to our local community.”

Bob Liskiewicz, a long-time board member, has been named incoming president of the Taste of Hudson Board of Directors for 2015. “We are very proud to be associated with such a passionate team of people who work extremely hard to put on a first class event and at the same time give back to the community. I am excited to be part of the 2015 Taste of Hudson and to ensure our commitment to donate funds back into the community continues,” Liskiewicz added.

The 11th Annual Taste of Hudson is scheduled for Labor Day Weekend, September 6-7, 2015.

Taste of Hudson, a two-day culinary, lifestyle and entertainment festival held annually over Labor Day weekend, attracted over 35,000 people to Hudson’s historic downtown. Visitors sampled delicious foods from 23 area restaurants while enjoying live entertainment, fine arts and crafts, children’s activities, a wine and beer garden and much more in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Taste of Hudson, a recognized 501c 3 organization, is a Rotary Club of Hudson Clocktower Class of 2003-4 Leadership Hudson project event produced with the help of volunteers within the community in order to promote Hudson area restaurants, businesses, artists and entertainers and to provide funding for several charities.
