TASTE OF HUDSON ANNOUNCES FUTURE PLANS
Hudson, Ohio (July 29, 2016) – The Board of Directors of Taste of Hudson Inc. announced today they will hold the annual Hail to the Chefs preview event on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Lake Forest Country Club. Having taken a one-year hiatus from their annual Labor Day event, the Board of Directors are looking to the Hail to the Chefs preview event as the next step as they move towards a successful return of the Taste of Hudson on Labor Day weekend, 2017.
Bob Liskiewicz, President of the Board of Directors stated, “We made the decision early this year to cancel the 2016 event due to anticipated downtown road construction. It also provided an opportunity to review the festival’s objectives so we could determine the best way forward after a successful 11 year run.”
According to Hail to the Chefs event chair, Carrie Gynn, “The eleventh annual Hail to the Chefs fundraiser, set for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29 at Lake Forest Country Club, will again feature top area restaurants who will provide samples of their cuisine.” Hail to the Chefs will showcase much of the culinary expertise behind the 2017 return of the “Taste of Hudson” event. In addition to the Hail to the Chefs preview event, the Race to the Taste sister event will be taking place on Saturday, September 3, 2016 prior to the Screen on the Green presentation of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the First & Main green. Furthermore, the Taste of Hudson Board of Directors has announced that Debra Sherman, owner of Classic Event Services, LLC and Connecting for A Cause, has been appointed Executive Director for the 2017 Taste of Hudson. The Board previously announced that Andy Malitz retired as Taste of Hudson Executive Director effective February 15, 2016.
“I am excited to rejoin the Taste of Hudson team as the Executive Director for 2017. The Taste has always been a Hudson centric family event with great food, entertainment and children’s activities. I look forward to working with the board of directors to continue the tradition that has become a vital part of the event landscape in Hudson each summer,” said Debra Sherman
Liskiewicz added, “Our future plans include some important changes as we work to reduce the overall footprint of the festival and focus on the original event objectives. The City of Hudson, local restaurants and retailers and event sponsors all have been strong supporters of the 2017 event plans and we very much appreciate all the assistance we’ve received. We look forward to another successful event and continuing to provide grants to local charities.”
Taste of Hudson, one of Northeast Ohio’s premier events and a 501(c)3 nonprofit, has boasted annual attendance of over 30,000 people and has generated grants of over $300,000 to worthy local charitable endeavors.
As previously stated, Tom Murdough will generously provide a donation of $30,000 from the Murdough Foundation to benefit local charities during the hiatus from Taste of Hudson for 2016.
