Taste of Hudson Announces Future Plans

There will be no Taste of Hudson event in 2016, organizers have announced.

The 2-day event usually takes place over Labor Day weekend.

According to a release from Bob Liskiewicz, President of the Board of Directors:

The reason is twofold, partially due to planned construction renovations and expansion occurring in Downtown Hudson this year. In addition, it provides an opportunity after a very positive 11 year run to review the festival’s objectives for the future and determine the best way forward as a key community event. Taste of Hudson as one of Northeast Ohio’s premier events and as a 501c3 nonprofit has been extremely successful with annual attendance of over 30,000 people. It has generated collective donations of over $300,000 to very worthy local charitable endeavors.
Andy Malitz, who has served as executive director for the entire period, has announced his retirement from the Taste of Hudson effective Feb. 15, to fully pursue his current responsibilities as General Manager, Sequoia Wellness and Executive Director, The New Center at NEOMED for Signet Enterprises of Akron.

“I am so honored to have been a big part of what has become Hudson’s biggest event and one that has such a positive impact on the community for our residents,’ Malitz said. “I have enjoyed working with all of the Taste of Hudson sponsors, volunteers, vendors, the city and everyone who has been involved in the festival since our start in 2005.”

“We sincerely thank Andy for his hard work, commitment and in particular his strong skill set in sales and promotions that have led to the positive results,” Liskiewicz said in the release.

First and Main Owner Tom Murdough will generously provide a donation of $30,000 from the Murdough Foundation to benefit the local organizations currently being supported by the Taste of Hudson, the release stated.

“The City of Hudson has also been a strong supporter of the event and we appreciate all its assistance,” Liskiewicz said. “We expect to provide updates including any fundraisers during the year to keep all our stakeholders and community members aware of our future plans.”
